A team member for the Community Development and Income Generation Programs Project, I am responsible for the conservation planning and women leadership initiatives component of the study. Encompassing 5 villages in the Bagan / Nyaung U District, the pilot study defines strategies for economic development, community resilience and shared stewardship of cultural heritage resources, including:
- Agricultural experimental farms
- Village trade and development community centres
- Micro-credit program
- Renewable energy pilot systems
- Public-Private preservation partnership
Phase 1 was undertaken with G. Hirata + Associates for the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction with the Asian Development Bank, and in partnership with Myanmar's Ministry of Cooperatives and Mandalay Division authorities.
